How BoutForge works

From the first signup to the last bout

A short tour for directors who have not signed up yet — and for families who want to know what they will see on event day.

Before event day

  1. Step 1

    Create a draft event

Name the tournament and add competitions such as Sparring or Forms. Draft means you can practice without families seeing a public link.

  2. Step 2

    Register athletes

Add people from your school roster, or publish the event and share a signup link. Walk-ins can still register at the door.

  3. Step 3

    Build divisions and brackets

Group athletes by age, rank, and weight, then generate a draw. Assign each group to a ring so staff can start bouts.

On event day

  1. Step 4

    Check-in

Mark arrivals, take payment, and add walk-ins. Staff can check people in; payment changes stay with the director.

  2. Step 5

    Holding

Call a division to the holding area, take roll, then send athletes to the ring. Texts and email are optional.

  3. Step 6

    Score and advance

Start the bout, enter forms scores or tap a sparring winner, and the bracket moves on. Lobby TVs update live.

What families use

Athletes and parents do not create a BoutForge account. They use links the director shares.

Public registration

Athletes sign up with a phone. The event must be published and registration open — no BoutForge account needed.

Find my bout

Last name and date of birth show ring, holding, and results. Parents do not download an app.

Lobby event board

A no-login display for TVs in the gym. Now fighting, on deck, and holding stay in sync.

Who can do what

Directors set up the event, build divisions, generate brackets, and assign rings. They can also run event day.

Staff check athletes in, call holding, start bouts, and enter scores. They cannot change setup or payment status.

Families register, look up a bout, and watch the lobby board — no staff login.

Ready to try it?

Free to start. After you sign in, the in-app guide walks through the same steps with buttons that open each page.
